Lift The Veil Lift the veil of colored sadness Draped across this beaten heart Dry the tears slowly escaping Catch my world, falling apart Unshackle hands from cuffs of iron Free legs once bound, to walk once more Open cage of gilded ivory Remove the lock from prison door Offer up embellished chalice To my lips of palest wine Quench my thirst and feed my hunger My knotted soul slowly untwine Pierce the night, now filled with silence With raptured cries of saving grace Cradle me in arms of healing ‘Till the dawn takes nightfall’s place Promise me you’ll stay forever Pledge to me your sacred vow Here at the altar of our melding Lift the veil and kiss me now ~ Ruth www.angelfire.com/pa/OriginalMinds/index.html |

Oh, Ruth, this is just so beautiful with so much needed release of painful emotions that were holding you back. The last verse is just so beautiful, especially the last line. Best wishes to you on your wedding day~ Take care, Melissa~ |

Thank you everyone for your comments. I guess I started thinking about the wedding on this one and kind of went from there. Often we were veils of many types and sometimes those veils need be removed before we can see things clearly. Thanks ~ Ruth www.angelfire.com/pa/OriginalMinds/index.html |

I hope your wedding day is a golden day that outshines all your past pain. And that your future is a lovely land where you two can climb the mountains together, and see sunrises on every side. Warmly, Rosemary . The spiritual wind that holds survivors aloft, plants the seeds from which bloom new hope ... R.J.G. |

This was beautiful my friend. I wish you and Rodger nothing but the best. Love, Jennifer Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats [This message has been edited by Lone Wolf (edited 02-13-2001).] |
