August Night Virginia Salter hot night drips from elbows a.c. hums false promise of cool think of ice cream drool heaviness of dark closes in as air’s pressure weighs mightily on my being calling me to slumber to dream of quivering droplets stealing down the hillside to plunge, then leap with joy! © August 4, 2000 |
