August Night
Virginia Salter

hot night
drips from elbows
a.c. hums false promise
of cool
think of ice cream
drool

heaviness of dark
closes in
as air’s pressure
weighs mightily
on my being
calling me to slumber
to dream
of quivering droplets
stealing down the hillside
to plunge, then leap
with joy!

VAS, boy are you a bad one! Now we are getting warm weather, but all those poor Northerners are still in the grip of winter. It is a good dream though. Liked it, ME

As I sit here with the windows open wide..enjoying the desert breeze I realize THIS is my February! Beautiful.
