All the kings men

in a fit of anger
storming out in rage
he lunges out to hit me
trapped within the cage

duck to miss his anger
with all my might I try
another bruise I hide
no longer can I cry

bruises on the inside
more than the out
changes things in myself
now there is no doubt

saved this time from the blow
he hits a looking glass
seven more years bad luck
so different from the past?

as I pick up the pieces
it's no different from my heart
broken and shattered from a blow
a place where body and soul part

and all the kings horses
and all the kings men
can never glue a mirror
or a soul back together again

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
now people don't get excited
don't loose your heads
this is just a poem
that you've just read
but many are out there
who live without light
let us remember them
as we have a happy night
I was going to tell you to get out of that relationship! Then I read the disclaimer (thank you!). I agree..no one deserves to live like this..
Helen,
thank God it's just a poem, and you're right many do have this to deal with and they shouldn't....it is sad.
I like this.  I have one pertaining to this subject somewhere.  You've captured the feeling very well here I assure you.
See you looking at things in a different light today. We can write about things that can be scary or offensive. Words only make us aware and you have written a lovely lesson here.
