A Certain Degree of Attitude Here I go again on that wind of road the one with the precipice on one side and the sharp rocks on the other you know the one where the road crew can’t reach cause fixing this one takes courage and a certain degree of attitude So this is the one I’m on you see and I have stopped at this hair pin curve and I can’t really see if anything is coming but I know there is only room for me if I’m careful so I gather myself together but I find I cannot slither around these rocks they are sharp and I’m bleeding fear So I close my eyes and I remember how my father taught me to cross a river on the rocks it takes a straight back and a sure foot and an attitude and you just do it like you were not in danger of tumbling into a raging current you do it with a meadow of grass below you and your father’s smile |

i know all to well about bleeding fear... I can do it with attitude too.... but around here they call it PMS very cool lessons learned and use of metaphors and memories so wise are you jm Sprayed across my heart and hers Danced butterflies in the wild This angel, this woman , who loves me with the innocence of a child. ~DeVante~ |

Martie* Fantastic weaving once again my friend...this held such fabulous imagery and as I read I could hear my father's voice telling me how to cross that path...and you are so very right...it takes attitude...something I never leave home without Excellent writing!! The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched ---- they must be felt with the heart~ *??* |

two things i'm starting to notice particulary about your poetry - you're excellence with extended meataphor and satisfying closures. This poem is just woderful as an insight into the difficult moments of life and how we can overcome them successfully ... did i say you had talent btw? ...lol well ya have... i think i preferred this to the music one though ...dunno why ..i just did P |

Martie- When my attitude is less than it should (or could) be - I need only read one of your masterpieces. Once more I feel the need to remind you - Publish a book of your word! The world NEEDS to read you! |

Marty-Thank you so much for reminding me of my fathers smile, I am feeling like you hugged me with your words and shed a tear at the same time. |

If you were to teach the world then the world would be nothing but rainbows and meadows of spring color. Lordy my friend, I so wish that I could carry your mind and eyes with me everyday all day. |

'and you just do it like you were not in danger of tumbling into a raging current you do it with a meadow of grass below you and your father’s smile' Excellent writing, Martie! Love these lines! sp 'cause I am hanging on every word you say, and, even if you don't want to speak tonight, that's alright, alright with me... |

Martie, this is SO right! Attitudes are everything....many times the difference between success and failure....so are father's smiles |

Balladeer--I'm sorry I didn't respond to you earlier, so I'm shamlessly bringing this back up to say..you are right, because I was thinking of my father's smile and how proud he'd be of mine...thank you! |

Wonderful phrasing and such words that stick with the reader, good job, Martie, very well written. What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life. Walt Whitman |
