“You are playing with fire,” they said, “And you’re going to get burned.” “He’ll hurt you again,” they said, But in my confusion, to him I turned. I tried to appear unhurt, To seem he left me unchanged. But you can’t hide truths, For eternities to come. And now a new one, Holds my heart. Yet I resist to trust him with it, But I know within my soul, I can. He is not the one who hurt me, Still I constantly compare the two. He is different from the others, He was my shoulder through the past pains. He will remain as my lifeline, Even if he comes to be the cause of my future ache. |
