Angels Have Wings I saw the sparkle in her eye. where the tear formed. and watched her face as it rolled down her cheek past the quivering smile. trying to be so brave. She clinched my hand, in her tiny one, with all her strength she held on tight, closed her eyes, continued to fight. So small and frail, since remission passed, this child of mine was breathing her last, and I her dad, tried not to cry, because she said it would make her so sad. She looked at me, and I saw goodbye; her hand relaxed, she seemed to sigh; peace it seemed composed her face, lines of pain had been replaced, and on this day with it's deep blue sky, I knew my angel had learned to fly. w. james beard, jr. ...another sad one I know; sorry; written around an article I just read about a family that lost their daughter to leukemia. Must be my "sad poem" month. jimmy [This message has been edited by jwesley (edited 11-18-2000).] |

jimmy--I am glad that you are not writing from a personal experience...to loose a child is so difficult..you have written of it with great compassion. |

So sad, yet it does need to be told. They are not alone, they go to a better place. |

JWesley~ This is just the most poignant of pieces and so tastefully done. My - my - my ... the spirit of a child touches our hearts again. You've done a wonderfully sensitive and compassionate render. *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

For taking this from an article you sure presented it to be happening from your point of view. And a remarkable job you did!! This brought tears to my eyes, and it's very beautifully written!! Such a heartfelt 'peace' it brings. <*\\\>< I know not what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future. I don't question YOUR existance - GOD |

James, it is nice to know that you do as I do...we look around us, and take to heart the troubles of the world, and then write of them, to share what beauty can be gleaned... Well done, Sir... Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Plesantly surprised here; didn't know how this piece would go over. I write from my emotions, from heart and soul, and write many things from a view outside my personal world, so I try and put myself in THEIR shoes and feel what I think I would feel in their place, even to the point of tears on pieces like this. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Thanks for you thoughts on this piece... jwesley |

Thank you, all my friends, it's so sad when such innocence has to be cut short and I believe we all feel the pain when a child moves on, no matter whose child it is, or how far removed from our own lives. jwesley |

*sigh* I am so glad this is not personal experience. Your words show how big your heart is and how much the pain of even a little one touches you. You wrote this with tenderness and love, ending it with the beauty that she now flies with the angels. *sigh* Sad it is but I am very greatful you are the one to write of it for you gave the experience the sweetness it needed. Much love and a hug from me to you http://www.geocities.com/karenltorbiak/index.html |

I applaud you in the way that you presented this and though it is sad, it is a fact that it is so real to so many. I am sure that this piece will touch many here in many ways, but most of all, there is an angel reading this one you have created thanking you for the beautiful way you represent this heartwrenching time. A life with love will have some thorns, but a life without love will have no roses. author unknown |

I finally found you! Wow, what a powerful read, after not reading your work for a while, brought a tear to my eye. You managed to connect yourself to this emotion/experience well, a sign of a true poet. Superb work. With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free.. dragonpoe |

What a bittersweet piece to read. You expressed this with eloquence. The family that lost their daughter would be happy to know that you cared enough to write a beautiful poem about their experience. With your poem her memory will live on Take care, Melissa The beauty of poetry gives my soul wings to fly free within dreams |
