A Lie what is a lie? is it antithesis of truth? is it a statement of omission? is it blackness in a pool of white? is it darkness, the shadow of night in the midst of a glowing light? or is it merely something one tells himself when there’s nothing else to say? . . . . . © November 12, 2000 Virginia Salter |

O for the truth, spoken clearly and boldly! Well done! Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Good thought...good poem....and i think you are right...sometimes we just want to wrap ourselves in denial and hence the "telling of lies cos theres nothing else to be said" |

Interesting question one of semantics or intent Do we subclassify lies iinto gradations from black to white Or are they all equally insidious or kind either way my repsone would have to be words blind |

Thanks, all, for reading and commenting. It's amazing how 'lies' being discussed or discovered bring out much attention and comments. We hate lies being told to us, unless we're protecting ourself by telling them to ourself. Then we probably hate them, too, because that means there's some reason to be doing so that we don't want to face. |
