Smooth Stones & Odd Things

Marbles, sticks, dolls
and colored string
were some of
the whispered
secrets from one
child to another

Around the circle from
one to the next, sharing what
each of us dreams to
collect as we walk
about town, or on a trip
to the mountains...
Our eyes and hearts
always searching
for the just that perfect one

Smooth stones in odd shapes
Perfume bottles in different
shades of blues and greens
Paper clips, only red
And thumb tacks in a can
disguised as a truck

The smallest is next, his face
serious in thought...
"what do I collect?" he asks
somewhat confused...

His head leans to the right,
then to the left,
While deep chocolate eyes
begin to squish up and
those beautiful lips,
start to curl

And then up with a jump
He gives a shout in his
5 year old way...

"I know what I collect, I do it
every day, I don't have to search
or go anywhere, It's Mommy's kisses
and hugs. Those ...
are my fav-o-rite things. "

Oh, one other thing I forgot to mention:
A Mother collects tears, from that
very first day.

I'm going to enjoy reading your work, for life is just like this [I have a few collected stones of "just because" myself] and you will be one of the chroniclers that will touch on these most special moments...

thank you!

[And I will bet on two hands I could name some of the folks that will come by to enjoy this piece...I'll check in later to see if they had a chance to visit....]

I thought this delightful--and I still have a treasure box..full of "smooth stones" crystals, feathers...etc. and my kids love to look through it and add to it (and sometimes subtract, lol) Thank you for the read...I enjoyed this much.

Snow~
A delightful render from you.
Spun with such joyous pleasure.
I'm definitely a collector - keeper - nester.
This touched me tenderly.
