I'm Late, I'm Late! I'm late, I'm late, there's far too much for me to do I know I'm panic buying, I'm getting in a right stew I don't know why I worry its only comes once a year But if I don't sort it out, it will all end in tears I've not decided just who is going to get exactly what I'm going crazy and my collar is getting quite hot As for the decorations tell me why do I get them all? Tell me what is so special about a cheap glitter ball I'm late, I'm late, and I'd better start to get a grip I'm too busy now, just please don't give me any lip I know there's no point in panic, or to lose my cool But I must get that tree it's just perfect for the hall I'm not convinced that the turkey is quite big enough Is eighty pounds right, okay I'll do some extra stuff So how many for dinner? Only four I thought you said Oh! Lord all this worry, I hope that turkey's dead I'm late, I'm late, I can't think straight, or at all I'm rushing to buy presents, I'll get the cat a ball I know I should start sooner but where is the time Just keep telling me that everything will be fine Your Uncle Joe wants WHAT? No he can't have that Tell him instead he can have a fake fur fluffy hat Aunt Agatha is not having a night on the razz Tell her she can make do with a tape of tasteful jazz I'm late, I'm late, and I'd better decide what to do I've got to stay firm on what to buy and for who I know that everyone enjoys some Christmas cheer But oh the work, it loses some of the magic I fear Tell your Aunt Flo she can't have a speedboat ride Just tell her it was to big for us to wrap or hide No your Uncle Ed isn't spending the day in the pub Oh and ask him to please remember this is not a club I'm late, I'm late, the day approaches so very fast I've not cooked the bird I can't leave that till last I've not written out the menu or the place names Yes! I know traditionally that it all stays the same But imagine the fuss if someone did forget the drill And no it really wouldn't add to the Christmas thrill No my eyes aren't misty that's certainly not a tear Yes you're right I can't wait for Christmas next year Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |

Ah, December's dither of decorative disarray! Only to come again, Christmas Day! Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Sharon, the only time I had enough forethought to do that I lost it all. No unfortunately I'm the one dashing around the shops just before they shut on Christmas eve, grabbing anything that looks like it might do, and hoping for a miracle. Still this year I might try doing it on line. (The shopping, really !) Glad it brought a smile. Kari, I know you've done yours haven't you, of course you have, your nicknames not Chaos. Thanks love but you know I still enjoy it, even when I have to work Christmas day, like I will this year. I'm just a kid at heart. Majestic Marsha Serenity, ah you did, well it is a bit like that with me. So which character from Alice would you be, I'd probably be one of those gardeners painting the roses, or the dormouse. Certainly the dormouse on a night like tonight, if I ever get home, and even that looks unlikely, I'll sleep for ever. Thank you Ethome, you do? I suppose you want me to get the unicorn out and wish for it for you? Oh no, no, no, you already have a head start on me. I know wishes are suppose to be unselfish, but even so. I was going to wish for some bright stars and some soft moonlight and a light night music. Now all I have to do is track down my very elusive love and then I shall be soaring again. (Yes before you ask he is still absent) I try to write one of these fun ones as often as I can because they have smile value. So I'm pleased you like them, I do too as it happens, but that's because I can let my strange humour have free rein. I like yours too, but I'm sure you've noticed. Take care Mushy Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |
