As the great guitarist’s fingers fly From inside me comes a plaintive cry Play for me. His lovely voice isn’t what I need. For smoke and velvet, I humbly plead Sing to me. Please share your music tonight with me I promise I will sit quietly And enjoy. For I know I’ll never feel your touch Still I need and crave so very much To employ These senses dedicated to you. Play and sing, my dear, and when you’re through I will leave. I’m out of tune with the way you live And unworthy’s all I have to give. Please believe Your happiness is my one desire And you know my heart. I’m not a liar. Sing to me. If you see the music makes me cry I know you won’t even wonder why Play for me. |
