These Days Of Our Lives Flicking the pages of my diary, turning over the page I recall the laughter and you being my trusted sage Reminiscing of days gone by I remember how we were The pages tell our stories about the time and the where I'm lost in reverie reading who did what and with who Remember how we giggled about that stupid pot of glue I can still see your face looking like you'd fallen in it And you saying I'm stuck on you, you always were a wit I can see the pictures clear and vivid as if they were today Instead of so long ago, so many, too many, of our yesterday Where did the sands go that seemed to last and run forever? When I sadly ask myself did we stop running on together? Still as I turn these pages they transport me quickly back To the time I wish I could forget in pain on jealousies rack A time best forgot, so much wiser to quickly flick the page Then I try to erase the memories of your frightening rage My memories flow like a river with smiles and some tears They are as fresh as they were in those young carefree years Time she moves so quickly leaving you so far behind her These pages they bring it all back, Oh how the memories stir I can feel your lips as they felt on that so very special day I even remember your face as I begged you, pleaded to stay And the time you broke my heart and left me on the floor How I believed that I'd lost hope of feeling love anymore These days of our lives are all within the pages of this book I'll carefully replace it and on another day I'll take a look Then the memories will roll like I'm watching some play I'm no actress but I'd remember the lines I should say It's time to put these memories far behind me in the past Let them remain there as time speeds me ever on so fast The future calls me and without you to hold me bound I'll be making new memories I'll be breaking new ground Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |

awesome poem. very well composed. i like the couplet style. somtimes i do that too... "Let them remain there as time speeds me ever on so fast" i just really liked that line. beautiful. I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates who said, "I drank what?" |
