Songs Change Virginia Salter darkness has engulfed day’s passing a chill’s overtaken its high the clock’s meted out as with marching the minutes and hours gone by loneliness cries in the wilderness a song as somber as night the dove clings to the willow too wise to fly without light a wailing is borne through the treetops above she who sits all alone as a mournful ol’ owl hoots its calling and the reaper’s heart becomes stone crickets no longer sing blessings to ears of wanderers there for seasons change and songs as well when autumn comes in on the air © September 5, 2000 |

Splendid piece of poetry this is. I loved it start to finish. With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free.. dragonpoe |

Thanks, dragonpoe. I just noticed that 'b o r n e' looks like 'home' in the 1st line of the third stanza. Were you able to tell that or do I need to repost it in different type and non-italicized? Goodness, I previewed this about 6 or 7 times, but was focusing on 'color' not the words. Fiddle! |
