Somewhere Up There

I've been down the trail of broken dreams
Where love is never quite all she seems
I've held the hand of the heart that lied
And I've seen trust sicken before she died
But somewhere up there just ahead of me
A living wish inside a loving heart will be
And there is one love who'll hold me tight
And softly enfold me in stardusted delight

I've walked the roads of sorrowing despair
Met loneliness and pain who wander there
I've watched as truth fell a victim to lies
And shook with pain as I heard her cries
But somewhere up there not far from here
Is the light of love, which will banish fear
And there is a loving hand held out to me
And I'll take it as I open my eyes to beauty

I've stumbled and fallen into pains dark pit
And wandered through halls dark and unlit
I've peered into hate and seen it's despite
And cowered from fears that shun the light
But somewhere up there light and love await
They and destiny are ready to show me my fate
And there is a future that calls out my name
And I know that love isn't always the same

Marsha

The memory of love's refrain is so difficult. But as the song goes..love is just the stardust of yesterday the music of the years gone by!

My dear friend this is great writing. I feel the pain. This poem spoke to my heart. I have lived many of your words. If you ever want or need another friend with an open ear you know where I am.
Love and light,
Richard

another poem of well worked metaphors and imagery Marsha,
perfect cadence as well ...
this "less is more" lesson is showing great poetic results ...
and with each poem you grow stronger in spirit...
another gift of poetry
take care

A rich piece of positive truth, how life can beat us down, but we must keep walking. Enjoyed the read.

Somewhere....up....there....
there dreams a pale moon light
somewhere, someone calls you...

and takes you in to the night...

Marsha...cream rises...

so do you...

Marsha, I can tell you are hurting, but this is such a lovely, hopeful poem. That you can see the light always, is such a credit to you.
And write so well of it, too.
Take care.

Dragonpoe, thank you so very much, one of the few lessons I have learned is that no matter how much people love you they really can't help you get up if you don't try to stand yourself. I am standing, I might stumble a lot but I am standing.

Yeppers, I would say that you are taking those lessons and getting straight "A's".  This in another one of those that shows the effort put into it and the use of your metaphors was splendid.  Wonderful write my friend.

Mark my friend, thank you so very much, it is indeed far too easy for me to stick with what I find easiest, but Kari has convinced me that the extra effort is worth it. And I must say as I complete each of these newer ones, the next isn't too difficult. However, I won't become complacent, and keep putting the effort in. Thank you again
