If You Had To Say Goodbye

If you had to say goodbye and I know you have to live your fate
Why I wonder so very tearfully did you have to hold on and still wait
You waited until I was fathoms deep in love with the very idea of you
And the thought of you leaving leaves my spirit so awfully sad and blue
I can still hear the sound of your love echoing through my lonely heart
And the sound of its memory is so haunting it's tearing me quite apart
My spirit is locked and chained within a dungeon awaiting her love
Alone and desolate she pleads constantly to her captor up there above

My soul knowing she's all alone paces about her dreary little cell
And weeps pitifully fearing that she's trapped there within this hell
You have to follow your heart to fly high and be as free as a bird
But oh how I wish that my heart had listened, if only she'd heard
My head gave her such a wealth of good advice and sense so very sound
If my heart had listened she wouldn't now be lying there on the ground
But there's no way now that I can make your goodbye disappear for me
And my heart will weep forever, mourning for her lost love eternally

My eyes are always misty wishing they could wash away this sad view
They want so to see your eyes in the morning light, they just want you
And when they stop crying they try to seek out your so very dear form
Searching for the sight that will bring them back their hopeful dawn
But there is no hope for them all, they are doomed to cry on in vain
Still one day in the future they may forget this eternal test of pain
And when that day arrives and the clouds and sorrow have finally past
They will all look for a love that's really true, a love that will last

*sigh* my heart bleeds for you, dear one. To love someone seems to include the danger of pain if that person does not love in return. I pray soon your heart will heal and you will find someone of true honesty. Much love and hugs to you from me.

Love I leave with you my friend whether it be in your life or of yet the essense of your dreams.
