I am lost and foundering without my rhyme. I wonder how you write free verse. I hear iambics in my mind. I see rhyming, miming, words in timing. (oops!) I want to structure each of them I am lost and foundering without my rhyme. I pretend to let words freely flow I feel the need to write a sonnet. I touch more hearts with my pantoums. I worry not when penning villanelles I cry no tears when quilling paradelles (oops!) I am lost and foundering without my rhyme. I understand we each have styles to write. I say that this should surely be all right (oops!) I dream pentameter at night (darn!) I try to write in free verse, but I can't. I hope to meter my next quatrain I am lost and foundering without my rhyme. |

I feel lost most of the time also when I drift away from the fundamentals, this is an excellent piece, Nan. "Every man dies. Not every man truly lives." Braveheart Kathleen |

It seems that those silly rhymes just keep slipping out so you must be a poet of which there's no doubt. (darn) Hey, just keep trying.... I know you'll do it! ...sighing. Love ya, Bob <>< |

Evening Nan, I must agree with most that you could never be lost. Perhaps lose your way for a little, but never lost. Excellent reply to the challenge. BC |

Nan, "Lost and foundering"? If you are lost, it is in your ocean of vocabulary. But I did enjoy the humor Fun to read, coming from you Liz |

You can write by the rules far better than a lot of us here...in my opinion, do what you're good at! And you are probably the best I've ever seen when it comes to that. Keep up the wonderful poetry because I love to read it! *Krista Knutson* I'm a slow dying flower In a frost-killing hour The sweet turning sour and untouchable... -Natalie Merchant |

My dreams are dreams...I only wish I could write the way you do, Nan. Much respect here for your skills as well as the wonderful writing you do. Now, if only I could rhyme...and all those other "things" you spoke of... jwesley |
