Midnight Blue The candle’s flame cast flickering light On velvet dress of midnight blue And as she danced he seized the night Of swaying skirt and silver shoe That New Year’s Eve was his alone The dream he had been waiting for Came not from wish but on its own And danced with him across the floor He saw in depths of dark brown eyes An honest soul, a heart so true Her inner self was not disguised By velvet dress of midnight blue And so they danced the night away All eyes upon the precious two Who recognized the instant love A gift known only to a few Then midnight tolled the sign of troubles In the crystal of champagne His mind set free in sparkling bubbles Squelched the love that he had gained He drank the celebration’s brew Until the dawn of purple light And lost the girl in velvet blue Who vanished in the cobalt night He searched the world for years to come To find the lovely girl who wore The swaying skirt of midnight blue The night they danced across the floor The velvet dress is just a dream A lovely vision in his mind And reappears in sparkling bubbles Through the misty path of time Now and then a candle flickers On her dress of mindight blue Now and then he weeps for her The only love he ever knew Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 01-02-2001).] |

Wonderful pictures painted Elizabeth...the scenes stand out in the mind...a mistake made in this story that would cost the man the love of his life...wonderful thoughts of Cinderella ran through my mind there for awhile....made it more of a dream fantasy....great work...loved it! |
