moon hangs high
brightly shining
in the morning light
speaks to me of madness
that is soon to come
final days
tho hath come
inside you
inside me
leaving you restless
begging to be set free
high storms coming
from the south
fear no more
you've been picked out
repeating words
seems you've heard before
stay inside
lock your door
midnight moon
hangs over head
calling the monsters
from under your bed
lurking in the open
they no longer hide
trying to convince
your maker
of how you have lied
retreating to emptiness
feeling too much
no one to turn to
anger wrenched
inside of you
skin bleeding oil
from the smoke you inhale
controlling your mind
don't dare tell your tale
beg for forgiveness
it's eating at you
breaking all promises
forever paying your dues
searching for answers
they've left you no clues
hopeing for a light
to lead you on your way
they grip you tighter
here they want you to stay
plans never played out
hands tied in a knot
all of your confidence
they'll replace with bitter doubt
waking hungry, tired and bare
look around you my friend
does anyone care?

This is a great poem, Julie. The inner torment is very well expressed. I'm sure we can all relate to feeling this way at one time or another.

Midnight offers rainbows as well my friend.  So nice to see you again.  Where the heck ya been?  As always though you pour out your heart in a wonderfully penned way and allow us to travel into your life just a bit.  Be safe and have a wonderful new year my friend.
