Shining Stars
~~~
The  walls  have  started  to  move  again
the  elusive  flicker
beyond  my  sight
I  feel  it
then  almost  see  it
~
There's  something  behind  me
Don't  Look !
Dear  God ... Make  it  Leave!
... what's  that  noise ... there  it   is  again ...
.....................................................................
..... it's  back  in  the  wall .....
ok
I  can  breathe
~
This  is  happening  too  often
I  need  to  get  out
get  off  this  computer
breathe  fresh  air ... and  shout
~
I'll  go  for  a  walk
round  the  block  ...  with  the  dog
It's  quarter  to  three
and  the  snow's  thick  as  fog
~
I  lean  back  ...  and  get  set
as  I  open  the  gate
the  dog  drags  me  through ...
as if  her  sling  shot  could  wait
~
My  feet  start  to  slide
as  we  round  the  first  curve
Jump  over  two  snow  drifts
and  dragged  through  the  third
~
A  neighborhood  cat
steps  out  of  the  night
"dear  God  hear  my  prayer
get  this  cat  out  of  sight "
~
A  meow  and  a  bark
drifting  loud  down  the  street
The  leash  I  grip  tight
as  I'm  pulled  off  my  feet
~
Every  dog  within  earshot
joins  in  the  howl
and  I'm  dragged  through  a  bush
before  I  throw  in  the  towel
~
I  lie  there  for  ages
heart  pounding  with  fright
I  notice  the  snowflakes
drift  by  out  of  sight
~
They  dance  and  they  swirl
and  they  land  on  my  nose
My  feet  are  so  cold
I  can't  wiggle  my  toes
~
Just  then  ...  the  snow  ceases
the  night  sky  ...  opens  bright
The  stars  ...  how  they  glitter
my  God  what  a  sight
~
Big  dipper  ...  Orion
they're  all  in  the  sky
Then  up  walks  my  dog
sticks  her  tongue  in  my  eye
~
I  spit  and  I  sputter
then  get  up  on  one  knee
As  our  neighborhood  watch
started  laughing  at  me
~
They  help  me  brush  off
chew  the  fat  for  a  while
We  exchange  a  few  laughs
then  head  home  with  a  smile
~
The  dog  had  her  walk
and  I  needed  a  rest
Now  the  walls  are  dead  still
..... but .....
....... the  floor .......
~~~

as long as the mouse (pad) has his cheese, you're ok!

Wynter ... you bet they're not easy to control ... we have heinz 57 about the size of a G-sheperd ... she doesn't stop pulling till she knows she's on the return trip

Irish Rose ... LOL ... now that's cute ... you should patent that ... print and sell cheese slice (pads)

Sunny1 ... thankyou ... there's no shortage of love here ... our dog is part of the family ( she doesn't quite rate a chair at the dinner table though )

Thanks Tracie ... with all the snow we've been getting this year, I thought it to be a good one to share again
