Gently brushing the barren white pages,
The poet reflects on the question of ages
And gloomy and somber, -- a tired, caged finch, --
He presses his cheek on the cold window hinge.

A mockingbird quickly flirts her tail aloft.
Hoping, she perches,--  so swift and so soft.
And harking, he hears her “to-wee, tooo-wee”
Change to a distant “to be! – C’est la vie!”

I liked this...nice contrast between the two. Very melodic!

This has a soft song to it, almost like a children's nursery rhyme...lovely...

I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

Master~
This is absolutely wonderful !
I hear the song of the mockingbird -
within the song of the poet !

What a marvelous metaphorical render.
I really enjoy what you do with your thoughts.
Thank you for being a poet !

Happy Holidays to you.
