State of constant confusion!

0 posted 2000-12-21 09:33 AM

Standing on the edge of eternity
Looking back over the ruins of life
I see all the broken promises
And all the little white lies

And when the time has come
When my time here is through
The only regret I will have
Is I squandered my chance to love you

We met for a brief interlude
Among life empty sea
We never took the chance
To see all it could be

I made my share of mistakes
And there were more than just a few
But the one I regret most
Is letting go of you

~Jeffery~

I don't say this too often to many poets but your poem touched me so deeply because right now I am dealing with the same emotions. You expressed so much of the pain, regret and longing in such few words, this was written so very well.  This poem just makes me want to cry (especially the last stanza), and that's not a bad thing, maybe it's time I do show my emotions and stop keeping them bottled up.  I'm sure that your poem will stir up many old memories and emotions in the other readers and that's the sign of a powerfully well written poem!    If only you knew how much every word relates to my situation and I hope that your life is not like this right now, hugs to you, my friend and have a Merry Christmas!

Take care,
Melissa

Jeffrey,

Nice to see you here again my friend.  This one is full of regret and longing I think.  It is never easy, but sometimes you just have to see where life will lead you.  The path may have a better end than you realize, but you will never know if you don't take the chance.  Nice writing, bro.

Merry Christmas to you fom me.

Jen

Thank you all so very much for these tears rolling down my face. I wish I could say that this isn't the way I feel right now, but I can't. It hurts to lose the ones we love; especially when we know that it is mostly our own doing. I will stop now before I say too much.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and may the new year be a blessed one for all of us.

Jeff

Merry Christmas, Jeffrey.  May you remember the Lighthouse poem you encouraged me to post and let the light shine from all the poetry in your heart and blessings to you, dear poet.

Such a sad piece, my friend. It's awful to let someone you love go... I only hope that sharing this helped you out.
