Fence Post

In the field of
my life
a cultivated ground
with memories of
peaceful pasturage
now turned under
fertilized
and pesticides
profusely applied
for the coming crops…
there remains
but one constant reminder
of the beauty once contained
within these boundaries.

Thank you...

After he stopped tending livestock, my grandpa and most of his neighbors, farmed only crops. They pulled up all the fences and posts.

Fortunately, grandpa left one corner post to remind me of what had once been a wonderful pasture.

Life is change....and I suppose, change has to be good.

(some grown up people told me to say that)

Sea...change may not always be good...but change is inevitible so we might as well think it is good.

How did that smoking smiley face get up there in my reply to Nan??? All I wanted was a sideways face with the tongue sticking out!!!

My wifes family farm has been in her family for over 150 years ... we still like to go there and stop at the top of the hill overlooking the old homestead ... my wife then passes on some of the stories from her father ... to our children

Same here Rex.....a relative was given our farm as a grant after the Civil War.

Lots of memories there

Very well written.  A memory is worth its weight in gold.

Depending on the weight of the memory.... it could be priceless.
