                The Artist
You're a painter in the sky,
whose colors poured down on me
in streams of vibrance.
The ribbons of magic
entangled me like willows
coloring my senses, softly
like the eyes of a child.

But you're just another fallen angel,
I've waited to catch
Another artist who plays his trade to the limit,
and practices his profession to perfection.

But I reached for you,
and I caught you for awhile
and I held you for a time
And I watched the colors overtake me,
and the artist capture another masterpiece
in his vast gallery of accomplishments.

Can I gamble my silhouette
to be sculptured by your hands?
To be molded by the warmth of your fire,
glazed in ceramic beauty.

If I let you paint me naked
will you show me all the colors
through the strokes of your brush
and put my face in a golden frame
to hang in your heart?

Will you create my portrait as an original,
carefully exploring each pattern of softness,
every definite line
that scapes my reflection of what you see.
Can you make this creation beautiful...
and not let it be another paint by number facsimile,
you've lost your inspiration to in so many studios before.

Or will I sit frameless
in a dusty corner
with canvas thrown over me
as I watch you take your paintbrush
      ...and go home.

Athena4
this is a brilliant write.
I was especially touched by
"Can I gamble my silhouette
to be sculptured by your hands?
To be molded by the warmth of your fire,
glazed in ceramic beauty."
powerful stuff.
Write on

Another artist who plays his trade to the limit,
and practices his profession to perfection

..now this is perfection..

I know this feeling, you magick up with your poem, quite well. The wish for another person to be a "broken" mirror, reflecting yourself, but with the patterns of what this other person is and not to blaze himself away at you, like a torch.
But to see this mirror, you have to draw away curtains and this can be quite painful at times.

A wonderful poem (again)!
take care
Björn

Kethry,
I'm so glad this touched you.  Sometimes, when I experience a moment so beautiful, I just want to "glaze it in ceramic beauty", and capture it forever.  Those moments just don't come often enough! Thanks for the sweet reply. Hope to talk again soon.
        Much love,

Sandra,
We are two princesses living in the wrong world. The only artists that wouldn't "take their paintbrushes and go home" are David and Richard. Someday...

No, somehow I doubt that a portrait such as this would ever inhabit a dusty corner...

well done Athena...

Indeed, such a portrait would hang in the finest of galleries. . .

Excellent writing. . .

Janet Marie,
Thanks so much for the accolades.  I wish for all of us that when we find our true "Artist", that he may never "take his paintbrush and go home".

Sven,
You would need a gallery twice the size to hold all of your masterpieces! Thanks.
