In Your Poetic Mind

I never got to say good-bye
to you, to hold your hand
in your dying days and let you
know I was there

It should have been a happy time,
a joyful time, I wanted so much for
you to meet her, the birth of my second
daughter named for you,
born at the same time almost to
the minute you died

I called every day, I know
you don't remember, and though you
couldn't really speak
I heard you, and know
in my heart you heard me too

Your death has been hard for me
I have cried endless nights,
some for my own relief
and other tears for the sweet
memories I have of you

Your life was full
you influenced my life
so greatly, you kept
me strong when strength
I could not find
and always gave hope for
brighter tomorrow's

Words right now are hard
for me to describe you
and they seem so jumbled in my mind
so will end by saying
I love you so
Goodbye

In Dear Loving Memory
A Precious Soul,
My Grandmother

Without you I find myself
Wanting to be lost again."

Greeneyes

perhaps at the moment of "passed"
grace of your grandmother passed to babe
named for grandmother, a saving grace
the sweetness in her eyes and face
and she shall always smile on you
and in everything you say and do

this is beautiful
your grandmother
would be proud

yet another one of your poems mirrors my life...
this is a beautiful tribute,
the remarkable coincidencce of her passing and the baby's arrival speaks volumes of things meant to be and things that we should never question...gifts of grace.
wonderful writing green eyes.
take care

Greeneyes,

Beautiful tribute to your grandmother.  It is always hard to say goodbye, but as one door closed another opened.  Perhaps she walked through the open one.  Hold on to the memories, for in them, she will always live.

Greeneyes-
You must know how much this touched my heart. my grandparents (both sides) all died before I was born - one grandfather just before - and I was constantly told how much they would have wanted to know me - - then I married and when My son was born - it was just after his maternal grandfather had died - - Married again and when Sharon's son was born - Dane only had but few months to enjoy him (Will's uncle).
I don't know why this tragedy repeats itself but I do know the sadness it brings - Hugs to you - I'm sure Ali will bring great pride to grandmothe and mother as she grows in age and wisdom

I just adore you bill...thank you for always sharing your words not only with me but with all you come in contact with....I know Ali will be a perfect "example" of both her great grandmother, and grandmother....it's been a rough couple of months, your reply and the reply of others has meant so much...thank you my friend...always...

The wonderful memories and love that you hold for your grandmother now have an extra vehicle in which to travel through your heart with and that makes the memories and love even that much more special.  Much strength to you as well and my prayers for your peace as I know your grandmother has found hers.
