The alpha wolf slowly descends Into the barren canyon below His paws softly pad along The path beside the river's flow Through the deep shadows Of the forest at night A sudden flash of movement Catches his keen sight Then the rustling of leaves Travels through the thick brush A small lonely wolf pup Jumps onto the path with a rush The alpha wolf freezes in his tracks Dumbstruck by the pup's lack of smarts Anything could have been travelling this route Including a bear that could've ripped him apart The old wolf scolds the foolish young pup All the way back to their den Another mooonlit winter's night They'll travel this way once again Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

An excellent job bringing this to life. Reminded me of that book "The Loop" - a favorite of mine. Thank you for sharing! To capture and live a moment is truly living |

LoneWolf~ You are so gifted. Such appreciation for the natural wonder of the wolf ... I wish more were so concerned and gentle in their feelings. This is just a precious write. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

ethome . . . Thank you very much. I am glad you enjoyed. These poems are my favorite also. Passing Shadows . . . Ah yes, the wonders of nature. Enjoy!! dreamkeeper . . . I love that book!! You are welcome for sharing and thank you for the compliment. Bob . . . The alpha wolf knows and sees all. Glad you like this. Alan . . . Thanks and yes we do!! Marge . . . Aw shucks, I just write 'em as I see 'em. They are beautiful creatures who are often misunderstood. Although they are not really our enemy, we are all too often theirs. I wish more were concerned as well. Maybe just once I can lend some insight to one who does not understand and then I will have made a difference. Thank you, my friend. EagleOne . . . My friend, they just come to me like a vision. I try to do my best to describe then accurately. Thank you. Amy . . . Thank you!! They are graceful and I hope I do them justice. Kathleen . . . Thank you my friend. BDC . . . Happy you like it. I hope Katrina does as well. They are beautiful creatures. Take care my friend. Sven . . . Thank you for the kind words.
