Just in Time for Christmas Virginia Salter here I stand cold concrete slab beneath me covered in darkness peering out through azure orbs at this scene before me a warm hearth pine-needle swagged mantle sliced intermittently with vertical blinds in one corner tannenbaum rises twinkling with stars of evening sky in another ivory tresses atop life’s furrows, lines of merriment as parentheses around azure orbs, creases of past joy, laughter, accentuate rose petals beneath a droplet that glistens knit-donned shoulders warmed doubly from flaming coals and woolen shawl above gnarled fingers resting upon quilted memories in their grasp tattered memento ‘Ralph and Gloria, 1932 first Christmas’ what God hath joined no man may render asunder imprinted recall is ALL! for all eternity jubilee for thee forevermore you, oh, precious one, have healed my lonely heart just in time for Christmas © November 18, 2000 |

Thank you both!! I had so much more in mind when I began this piece. I wanted a vivid, family scene seen through vertical blinds while standing outside on a cold, concrete sidewalk, engulfed in the blackness of night. I had envisioned children and Mom and Dad decorating the tree, carrying on joyfully while grandma sat in the corner in her memories. Alas, this was very long just focusing on grandma and where/when she was. Glad you enjoyed. |
