I know that I'll never be a perfect man,
I'm just trying to do the best I can,
in hopes of reaching the promised land
because, I really want to go to heaven,
and I feel that the best method for me,
is to strive for perfection.
This is the reason why,
I don't smoke or drink nicotine,
and it's also why,
my criminal record is clean.
I try my best not to criticize,
somebody or their type of life
because the true judgement of man,
all belies in the grace of God's eyes
as I try my best not to lock souls with Satan
because a darkened soul, is what he's anticipating.
I try to be nice to everybody
and treat them the way I like to be
because, I hate having enemies.
But despite all the kindness I radiate,
I acknowledge that some still won't like me
because it's not a perfect world,
and there's always gonna be people filled hate.
I want a relationship with God,
that's pure and genuine,
like a fine glass,
of sparkling white wine,
as I just wanna be happy
and live in great prosperity
because, I'm not just satisfied with just getting by
because, I believe that I can fly and kiss the sky.
Before I eventually leave this earth,
I wanna leave with a life full of worth
because, it would let me rest in peace,
knowing that I lived life sucessfully
so, I'm just gonna continue on my path of right,
and meet God and Jesus Christ, under a ray of light.

What an uplifting poem NateDogg! You sound as if you live life to it's fullest and enjoy the richness of His blessings ... wonderfully inspirational thoughts.

NateDogg, sometimes it's hard to try to be perfect. I'm not. But I'm not bad either. Ppl ask me to smoke or drink, and that's just not my thing. B/c I know how it is, considering I dated a vey young alcoholic. I like this. This is the first poem I've read in Open Poetry, and I like it. Maybe I'll post poems here too, or you can venture into Teen Poetry 3 if you wanna read em. Bye, Allysa

Enjoyed this message and that is my hope...I know that I will never be perfect but I am trying to please myself and God...but if it were not for his grace I would be lost...James
