Though I've been prone
to frightful thoughts,
have borne some frightful
dreams.
None were quite as
terrifing
as when no one heard
my screams.

When I stood face to face
with anger incarnate.
Stood sober while threats
were incurred.
No vision at night,
exceeded the fright,
of that day
when my screams went unheard.

I shall never forget the feeling
of hearing the thin
bitter plea,
sent out from my heart
tearing me apart
as your hands caught hold of me.

It's not my fault,
and I know it.
Still, there are times
when I restlessly dream.
That I imagine it is,
and that answers the question,
Why is it?
No one heard my screams.

Oh my goodness Seraphin ... this is so powerfully written. If this is from personal experience, my heart goes out to you. Please know that if I'd been nearby ... I'd have come running. We actually intervened in something similar for a neighbour a while back, and went to court to testify as well. These are difficult times ... i hope you are now safe? Hugs to you,

powerful, chilling, piercing, words ...
well expressed ...
when we write these things out we are given a voice to be heard...
and to help us heal.
