a thief's gift ... catch time's breath and stop the spinning world fetch light's death and dim our sun unfurled to be that thief in night's darkest sight the robber of gifts given 'fore a life's light for each we see ourselves in the other things we love -- things we smother our thieving ways carry burden's weight give back to souls these things we take a simple gesture of life's lasting days to give of ourselves in the simplest of ways a notion, a smile, a word from above a flower, a voice, a kiss to a love steal from thyself a piece never seen place the gift on hearts so serene do this in silence and self-efface then thief retreat to a lightless place M.A. Miller 10.03.00 My calling before me, let quill be my offering; For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive. "Catch time's breath, and stop the spinning world..." That has got to be one of the finest lines I have ever heard! Enjoyed reading this tremendously! ![]() Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |
