The Mood of a Poet

Sometimes the lines of poetry
Flow swiftly down the page
Like a little swollen mountain brook
Comes tumbling down in rage

In blissful moments, words can dance
Across an empty page
Like silly clowns performing cartwheels
On the poet stage

Sometimes the velvet words unfold
Like petals of a rose
Fragrantly unwrapping
As they reach for warming glows

A Poet’s most insightful phrase
Is slowly laid in place
Defining depth of spirit
And the grief upon his face

When full moon casts it’s opal light
Upon sweet passion’s lips
The Poet’s pen starts oozing words
In luscious honey drips

Sometimes each word is first caressed
When placed upon the page
Knowing it’s significance
Will last from age to age

When the spirit’s chalice overflows
With life’s most sacred wine
God steps in and pens the verse
To last the rest of time

Dear Liz .. you've expressed this so beautifully. Indeed sometimes they flow so sweetly like a fine wine. And often, when the words cascade, it feels like devine intervention. What a wonderful feeling when it all comes together! Excellent expression Liz!

Best wishes,

Hey Lizzy...here I am struggling with an essay at some absurd hour of the morning...and this is just the kind of thing I need to read on one of my little 'breaks'.

It's lovely...

Sometimes each word is first caressed
When placed upon the page
Knowing it’s significance
Will last from age to age

I quite agree..

Lizzy Santos took a pen,
Wrote a lovely poem again,
When the job was nicely done,
She stuck into Balladeer,

Just for fun!

And most times this is YOU.  You are among the brightest of the stars here in poetryland and every verse you put up screams out in pure beauty of YOUR pen.  To have just one moment in your head would be like taking a vacation to that PERFECT spot that no-one else knows about.  Superb just seems too little for this one but that is all I can leave you with as I am at a loss for the proper words.

Beauty over flows your pen my friend, thank you for being you.

Elizabeth you have did exactly that making your words flow from line to line and the petals of the rose bloom so, this is so true so often our words seem to flow so magnificently its hard to put them to the page, what once was a empty page now has beauty for all to see, beautiful and very inspiring to us want a be's well at least me. lol

Liz,
I liked this verse

Sometimes the lines of poetry
Flow swiftly down the page
Like a little swollen mountain brook
Comes tumbling down in rage

and this one

In blissful moments, words can dance
Across an empty page
Like silly clowns performing cartwheels
On the poet stage

Oooohhh and this one

Sometimes the velvet words unfold
Like petals of a rose
Fragrantly unwrapping
As they reach for warming glows

And this one's my favourite

A Poet’s most insightful phrase
Is slowly laid in place
Defining depth of spirit
And the grief upon his face

I like this one too
When full moon casts it’s opal light
Upon sweet passion’s lips
The Poet’s pen starts oozing words
In luscious honey drips

Not to forget this one

Sometimes each word is first caressed
When placed upon the page
Knowing it’s significance
Will last from age to age

And I sooo like this one

When the spirit’s chalice overflows
With life’s most sacred wine
God steps in and pens the verse
To last the rest of time

Whaddya know I like them all
