Okay, all here is one I dug up from my "Ole Blue" archives. Starting Wednesday I'll be doing three days a week at work where I have to get up way before daylight. Everyone wish me luck. I wrote this last year when I was working there...before I left.. PS..I know I haven't read and replied tonight, and I apologize. I just figure with all the reading, I don't get to post much, so maybe this will be alright. Night has passed, And early hours are upon me, As curling black ribbon, Slips between the fingers, Of my sight and my thought. I leave it behind, Forgetting it as quickly as I noticed. Grey skies are scattered with shadows, Like soft wrinkles in crushed velvet, And they cradle the early morning moon, In a luxurious blanket of pre-dawn. Together, they dust the world in soft light. I, in my man made shell watch with agony, Knowing that I cannot stop, To take it all in quietly. The wind whispers loudly at my windows, Imploring me to give it proper attentions, It is much like a neglected child. Beautiful and full of life, yet lonely and longing for company. Be still, my wind, for we shall be together soon. Be still, my heart, for there is hope yet, That we can soon enjoy these early hours alone. Hope shall be my companion on this day, And work will not get the best of me. My name isn't Baby, and I don't want to cyber. |

i wish i we're that determined before a day at work. but i know how you feel, being distracted by something so trite as work ( ) and missing those important self-disovery moments in the night. a really soft poem, with a touch of determination. i think it captures 3:45am very well. PS great signature...< !signature--> Everyone's got their demons. We all got somethin' to atone for. [This message has been edited by Ethan_Halo (edited 10-01-2000).] |

Thanks Ethan! I'm glad you enjoyed this and took the time to read. Yep...Those other important things like poetry and spending time with my muse have to wait because of WORK! ACKKK!! An evil word! I'm not really chipper at that time of the morning..TRUST ME!! I usually do have a strong wish to be sitting outside on a porch though. Thanks for the compliment on my signature too! I've recently acquired it because of some annoying experience! LOL! Can you say...Random chat? Thanks again! err...did I say Thanks? My name isn't Baby, and I don't want to cyber. |

Temptress~ How very, very lovely are these thoughts - 'Grey skies are scattered with shadows, Like soft wrinkles in crushed velvet, And they cradle the early morning moon, In a luxurious blanket of pre-dawn.' My goodness ... I'd never be this lucid at that time of morning. Lovely visions fall upon your day. So glad you shared them. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

"Hope shall be my companion on this day, And work will not get the best of me." Great lines! I SO know what you mean! Sometimes, it's just about impossible not to let situations at work affect you TOO much. I, too, try to make the 15 minute drive to work last as long as possible, trying to enjoy this beautiful time of year, accompanied by my favorite music playing. (No, I don't drive to work at 3:45am, but I commiserate, nonetheless) I loved it!! sp Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'it might have been.' -John Greenleaf Whittier |

I loved this - How I survived drives to work in the dark circa 12/98: Grey Haze Today's daybreak, far from inspiring In color or content Light gradually appearing totally Diffused gray, No hint of sunlight Or a point source of the light Nearing work my car turns And follows the Cooper river Through the park for about 2 miles Walkers are parading in their sweats Joggers and, (I presume) lovers Are all out on the path Some Canada geese in low formation Are seeking a spot to alight. The light from the lampposts Along the way shines out Like the starlight on a Christmas card In 4 or 8 pointer fashion. My eyes prefer these To the klutzy drivers Finding their way to work In the same way as myself It is, even in this Nearly monochromatic coloration A romantic setting And I think of you... ~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning. ~ Billy Wilder |

You almost slipped by me but I caught you just in time! You have some wonderful images here that are rightly appropriate for that ungodly hour...it is a peaceful time, though. Very well done, Tempting One Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations? |
