I knew you would soon be gone. You were leaving me behind. You were going to walk away, it was just a matter of time... I should have said good-bye. I saw you board the train and ride into the night. We would never meet again, but, then again, we might. So, I did not say good-bye. Your memory haunts my heart. Your voice is on the wind. Your ghost dreams with me at night. It has become my friend. So, I need not say good-bye. Every so often I hear of you. Rumors float my way. I heard that you got married and I didn't know what to say... But I did not say good-bye. Thirty lonely years have passed and I heard you passed away. I didn't know how to act. I felt empty in a way... because I never said good-bye. |
