Heart torn Barefeet she leaves Years of torment worn Nowhere to go Friends all deserted Bruised and battered She hikes to anywhere He wakes, head spinning Years of dominance finally ended How could she, he wondered He loved her so Oh Really!! Made of glass they are Filled with amber or spirits Little metal retaining the flavor Many of those went down the mouth of hell As she waited for the next battering of words As she received the blows before the bruises Had all been mended, left untreated Don't cry you coward, don't even fret You never gave a damm, why would you now She is gone, she'll find some happiness About you well let's hope she cares less She will wear shoes again She will dress up again She will never ever endure Seeing you with that bottle She will never be bruised again. Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) [This message has been edited by Daniel J D (edited 11-14-2000).] |

Wilfred, Thank you on behalf of my close friend. Many women are hurting out there from the hands of alcoholics. Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) |

JD~ So poignant - so much truth that touches too, too many. You are quite versatile in your subjects and I've enjoyed each piece I've read from you. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Marge, I personally experienced my father drink from stress. He had so many children to care for and the task was always so hard that he resorted to the bottle on many occassions, at times leaving the family without much to live on. But we battled on as a family, and stuck together. The person I wrote about, is a very close friend, whose life has been shattered by her husband's drinking, and his continuous abuse of her rights. When I first met this lady she was one of the most beautiful person I had met, and when she told me of the damage she had endured, I was totally astounded at the unjust way her husband treated her. Even though my Dad drank, he never laid a finger on my mother, he respected her to the end. Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) |

It is a beautiful day when someone gets out of an abusive relationship...but it can be a long journey to rebuild the fragile spirit...James |
