Listening to every heart

0 posted 2000-11-11 08:16 AM

The Softest Heart

Not a soft touch, no,
and not of soft mind.
But a soft heart, yes,
she is that,
all of the time.
She willingly steels
herself against
the crafter,
the one that would
be her master,
but she ultimately
gleams against
anyone who might
contrive, or
would steal
her dreams.

She knows she
has a very soft
heart, and that
in itself the devil
would impart
a willingness
to hear the voices
of the family now
lost, if she
had her choice.
But they are gone,
and it is for them
that she longs,
for in all this
great while,
she feels as if
she does not belong…

anywhere.

In that, she's scared.

But her heart
remains soft.
Her soul stays
aloft for most
and for them.
Sometimes she
wonders at the
where and
the when.
She would visit
"where" most
when critical,
and found
"when" to be a
hard pill.
She could not
swallow, nor could
she lend, but a
candle to tallow,
and a will that
would bend

toward destiny

for her and she.

She wants most
to allow the
ghost to live
to give and give
but the spirit
of the day
does not allay

the softness of
her heart

so the steel becomes
her eyes of green
the steel becomes
a golden sheen
the steel becomes
her heart
of give

O but for the
soft she would live

and for it
one man could
enter, one man could
come in and
splinter
one man could tear
it all apart
the one man
that had her heart

Not a soft touch, no,
and not of soft mind.
But soft heart, yes,
she is this,
all of the time.
She willingly steels
herself against
the crafter,
the one that would
be her master,
but she ultimately
gleams against
anyone who might
contrive, or
would steal
her dreams.

Perhaps because this was not repeated - it is why I noticed and love it more - thoughts and feelings I know well

Kari, had to come back, this is so amazingly good. I really really love this one.
(Oh and Kari, I know my strange Kent terms can be confusing, gobsmacked, means struck dumb, literally smacked in the mouth   )
I forget that you don't all live here sometimes, I'm sorry.
Take care

Marsha, I adore the word "gobsmacked!"...

Sy, well, well, well...I am so glad you came in to read! That pleases me most...{~,^}

Mr. Yeats, sometimes I feel the repeat of a rhythm's words intensive the moment...and other times, once said is enough...thank you...

Amy, aren't you simply and utterly amazing! Thank you so much for coming in to read!...

James, of course you do...you own it...

Rainydays, "emotive" says quite a lot...thank you...

Marsha...I STILL like "gobsmacked!..." I knew it had to be special!...thank you!...
