Listening to every heart

the way of women...the bane of men....

is it then the woman’s way
to want sweet softness in her day
to want soft words of sheer delight
to know that a man could make things right

instead she has to “deal” with men
who have it there, within their kin
to go to war, fight or debate
to carry a grudge, to even hate

what is it about a woman, just so
to touch the heart of men who go
about their day, not looking for ease
when in a woman’s eyes, could find peace?

I care not to go to war
but yes, I will stand up for
the right to right a wrong
albeit done with song

and if I be the one
who has done one wrong
could a man not forgive
when my “sorry” comes along?

when I know I could not sway
another soul to think my way
I would hope the road I travel down
would see soft smiles, never frowns

for each to their own, to have their thought
meanwhile, stuck with men who have fought
for one thing or another, all their life
and to their end, to live with such strife

no, it’s not my way
but I see that it’s yours
that’s why I’m a woman
and you’re a man, for sure!

Kari, this is soooooooo true. I know there's a difference, and I truly say 'viva la difference' but does it have to be such an uphill struggle.   Love this one Kari, I really do. Wonderful write from you love, absolutely great.

Well, that's one sooooo right and one sooooo true.  I wonder if there will be any manly input and if so, will it become 49 percent and 49 percent and we will have an unperfect Passions, just as we have an unperfect nation [for the moment....]

It must be true that men are from Mars and women are from Venus.....those differences are so profound sometimes....can't get around the fact that the two are so differently made.  But the bottom line should be...each one should be able to gain the respect of the other by giving in a little to each other in a loving way......but what would I know? ...
I have'nt really moved from Mars yet I just travel here to this poetry board because I enjoy it so much....take care, you are a marvelous poet and I know for a fact that you've been married a long time .... so you really know the scoop...love ya ..ethome

Karilea, of course you're right.
Women love and men do fight.
But what are men most fighting for?
The women that they all adore.

For a man must do what's right for you.
To keep you safe, he'll fight for you.
There's nothing he won't try for you
And, if need be, he'll die for you.

There's nothing that a man won't do
To find your love - unearth it
'Cause, Karilea, I have no doubt
You would be more than worth it!

I have to go with ethome and Balladeer on this one Sunshine. . .

Couldn't we both just meet on Mercury somewhere?

THis is the part where I should start defending men right... but somehow I think it would just get caus ethe snow ball effect, so I will just take out my hairdryer and melt that snow ball, damn those men that fight just have not been loved... or something like that... but us men are not that bad, well speaking for the Irish ones anyway.
enjoyed the poem.

Sven, when you find the Mercury ticket salesman, buy two...

dreamkeeper, thank you...[P.S., Welcome to Passions!]

Hello peppermint...thank you...

Brian, I am only opining with my opinion...and I for one think the Irish are a  fine sort...{~,^}as you know I always relish your visits...

Tracie, this wasn't intended to be a "take-sides" thing...it was one of those days when you have a point you want to make, but hug everyone in the end kind of day, y'know?...but thanks for reading...

Otherwise, I vote for all that's been said about this wonderful poem
