My Prayer

The longer
the time spent
away
from you,
the deeper embedded
in my soul
you become
And if you look
down
through the layers
of learned
mistrust
and taught anger
through the veils of
deceit
you will find
a purity
that lived long ago
and is now waiting
for someone
to bring it
back to the surface.
Rising slowly
over the pain
and frustration
into arms open
wide
happy to accept
me
for what I am.
And I pray,
that the person
waiting
will be you.
