At one time we were friends,
and then became man and wife.
Together we worked side by side,
to create our perfect life.

We built our home, and raised our kids
and we were filled with pride.
We laughted together, played together,
and sometimes we even cried.

But as the years past slowly by,
we begin to drift apart.
No longer did we shared our life,
or feelings concealed in our heart.

It seemed as though, we had said it all,
there was nothing left to say.
It was no one's fault, we placed no blame,
just stayed, out of each others way.

The man that use, to hold me at night,
and whisper his love tenderly.
was now someone, I no longer knew.
He had become, a stranger to me.

We both realized, it was over for us,
and there, was only one course.
We parted as friends, still keep in touch,
but our marriage, ended in divorce.

I couldn't accept the arms of a stranger.
I wanted a lover and friend.
I want to know, the arms that holds me,
are not a strangers, I'm lying in.

Divorce is a harsh word and a harsh reality! But
in my case it was the best decision I've ever made.
I have no regrets. My heart and my sympathy goes out
to anyone that is living with a stranger, but we each have to make our own decisions as to what is right for us! I did and I'm happy!!

Kitty* I know how difficult the decision
must be to end in divorce but we all deserve
to live happy and to be loved...excellent
work and I'm glad you are finding all that
you deserve~

Kitty, sometimes the hardest truth to admit is what is most obvious...

good luck in all of your endeavors...

I would rather be silent and write, then speak loudly and be bound.

kitty--

an emotional piece this is. i am glad
to hear that you found the strength to
do what it took for you to find happiness.
divorce is something no one should have
to go through...but sometimes we must
make hard choices in life in order to
be true to ourselves. take care.

Sad but true poem, my friend. Sometimes divorce is all thats left of a marriage,
painful as they may be to one or both parties; but so is the break of of any loving relationship, which, I think, this piece can also apply to.

Sorry yours ended that way, but glad it was good for you.

This poem struck my heart so deeply. It was wonderful. Pain can lead to happiness but man the pain can be so fierce. Thank you for letting me read this one.
