In the silence of the night You can hear the city sleep. And Johnny walks on by As his lazy feet Shuffle through the darkness. He says Nobody cares… Nobody cares.. So I’m gonna do what I’ve gotta do Because nobody cares About me. Into a darkened alley he makes his move Picks up a red-hot piece. Says he’s gonna make some easy money now. Then he’s gonna leave these streets. But dreams are lost You pay the cost And lives are cheap Out here On the streets Now Suzy had her whole life All figured out Until this damn city Brought it down Threw it at her feet She says Nobody cares… Nobody cares. So I’m gonna do what I’ve gotta do Because nobody cares About me. So she sells her precious body For an easy price To just about anybody Who wants to use her for the night. But dreams are lost You pay the cost And lives are cheap Out here On the streets In the silence of the night You can hear a small child weep As his cries echo Through the darkness And the sirens scream As they race to the scene Cutting through the silence Like a switchblade knife And a lonely boy Has found a lonely girl Together they’ll fight Against this lonely world And dreams are caught As lives are fought And promises we keep Out here On the streets [This message has been edited by Ron K. Wonderfully fast paced, liked the style of this one much. Great writing. Strive for higher levels, if they seem out of reach... Grow, and they will get closer. |

I pictured this story in my mind as you told it. GREAT writing! The part I like the most is how real it is. I wonder if most people realize how real it is. As we sit here and write at this moment, there are people in the city fighting for their life or the life of a loved one. Thank you for reminding me tonight to count my blessings for getting out of that street. |
