The fire glows, the music plays…
her graceful, supple body sways…
She dances ‘neath the full November moon…
For anyone who gathers near,
enchanting words will touch the ear…
to couple with her strange and haunting tune…

The melody sounds far away,
yet lingers as the guitars play…
A spell is cast from every aching note…
And every note has sprouted wings,
to fly into the hearts of Kings…
But only one knows why this song she wrote…

He will not bend, but will deny
the tear that lingers in his eye…
He hears her song…within his mind it plays…
Though he is still her Gypsy King,
he won’t allow his heart to sing,
or even question why he went away…

The dawn has chased away the night,
and with it comes a golden light…
The Gypsy Queen has closed her weary eyes…
The music plays within her heart,
and in her dreams, they’re not apart…
They’re dancing…once again…’neath starry skies…

So, if you listen carefully,
there’s hidden here the melody…
a haunting tune that no one else can sing…
It casts a spell, and then some light,
on this November winter night…
Upon the heart of her lost Gypsy King…

As I read it I could hear the gypsy music playing and could see the Gypsy Queen swaying in the wind. To make one see and hear through words is wonderful.

wow sunny, this is great. I love the theme. I can imagine the guitars playing, the gypsy dancing, rose in her lips...all to music and song meant for only a lover's ears...wow. Ron< !signature-->

My friend, from one gypsy heart to another, we are dancing in the wind, and for myself, I feel no one is watching..
Beautiful poem. Thanks for writing it.

Sunny, this tale is captivating, wistful, compelling. I enjoyed it very much. I think it's lovely how so many folks use visuals with their poems, and yours is very pretty!

But the winds, as the tides, are subject to change, my friend.....so always dance into the wind.....never turn your back on it!
Thank you!!

~~~ Victoria ~~~
I thank you from my heart. Art has always been such a joy to me, and this way I can combine words with pictures!! Such fun!!
~~~ Bonnie ~~~
I did hope that the verbal images would show through, and thank you for easing my mind in that respect!!

~~~ Sunshine ~~~
Thank you.....but you should know by now that you are always a source of inspiration to me....you do, don't you?
Ah.....you are the craftsman, I am merely a student with an insatiable curiosity!! But I thank you.....very much!!
It's ok to lose yourself in words....that's the highest compliment you can pay any poet on this site!! I do appreciate it!!
Thank you, and I really enjoy using the graphics. It adds a bit of a challenge to put the two together!!
