When we make love, the gates will open wide
To treasures I had never come to know
And I will live with happiness inside
Delighting in the richness of your glow.

When we make love, all pain will disappear
Erased by all the joy you make me feel.
Our day of blissful joy is drawing near
To taste the nectar our love will reveal.

When we make love, our hearts and souls will blend
As essences  now mingled into one.
Toward Heaven's path my spirit will ascend
To harvest golden apples of the sun.

Should fate decree we'll not taste passion's thrill
Rest easy knowing I will love you still.

This is the sweetest promise in a sonnet I've read in some time--and I especially loved the last couplet.

More of these, and we shall have to start calling you Sonneteer...hugs to you, m'friend.

Be still my heart ... Oh Michael, this is just so lovely. What a beautiful flow ... such tender and romantic sentiments you've so perfectly penned. Sighing, and departing quietly ...

Best wishes,
/Kit

Beautiful love poem filled with devotion and the rest easy of time well spent together. The intimacy goes beyond the act. Like the song says

"After the lovin
I'm still in love with you."

you wrote one heck of a sonnet ole bud -
knowing the last couplet is supposed to resolve what's 'built' in the 1st 12 lines -I was on tinterhooks wondering how you'd pull it off - and you did it beautifully!

Rose...I certainly hope so!

ethome...you are so right! After the lovin' is equally and sometimes even more important! Thank you...

SEA...Of course he would! Who in their right mind would want to lose YOU??

Kit..you never need to sneak in. The door is wide open for you!

Wilfred...appreciation of the form is always special to me. I thank you, sir.

vicky...you sound like quite a romantic yourself! Wonderful!! I thank you

Bridgette...that would be a nice change. Most girls tell me "Don't hold your breath!"

Denise...the world is filled with things I can't do..but if I can please you, the rest are unimportant!

Sunshine...what'd I do??? LOL! Thank you, sweet and kind lady....
