I changed the sheets on my bed today,
polished the furniture to a shine.
I want everything, just right tonight,
when I let you enter my mind.
I've taken my bath, and brushed my hair,
and sprayed on a tad of cologne.
Slipping nude, between the crisp clean sheets,
you're here with me, though I am alone.
I pull the pillow close to me,
and snuggle down in my bed.
Then let your image consume me,
and let our memories flood my head.
In the past you've taken me, to heights unknown,
and you quenched my souls fire.
Tonight, though I can recall it all,
you're not here to satisfy my desire.
I drift off to sleep, with your name on my lips,
I'm still clutching my pillow tight.
If only you had been here with me.
It would have been, a perfect night.

If you can't make it so,
you need to let it go!

Kitty~
This is just a wonderful longing piece.
You painted the picture so clearly ...
well said and sadly so.

I can really relate to this--seems that I say that a lot about your poems, Kitty. I know how it is to have an almost perfect night. Great work once again!

Yeah, but it's cold and dreary without the memories, my friend, thank God for them.

Now I have two more hours to wait for me mate to come in after reading this...by then the kids will be home and want to eat, etc. etc., and chances are they'll bring home friends...

Gad! What have you done to me??

Lovely piece...
