A traveling minstrel chose to rest for the night At a tavern full of song and of light. Not alone on his path to Innisvaire. There were others seeking the city fair. Singing, dancing, and juggling of yore Were the talents the other travelers bore. One member alone caught his watchful eye. She was a dancer who seemed to fly With movements of ease and grace. He couldn't help but look at her face. Jungle colored eyes and sun like hair Continued glances with her he did share. Traveling at dawn in the misty air Was the troupe with the dancer fair. The minstrel followed closely behind Keeping her in sight and in mind. She later noticed him in his isolation And generously offered an invitation To walk with her side-by-side. He accepted and soon joined in her stride. Their conversations were simple at the start Then they consisted of matters closer to the heart. She became intrigued with his character and mind. She saw that he was caring and also very kind. The position of a knave with the qualities of a knight Being near him made her heart take flight. He saw in her a fire deep inside; A fire, which she could not hide. They gave to each other laughter and smiles, Which lasted for the many lengthy miles. The two became close on their journey to Innisvaire. So close in fact that it didn't seem fair When all the minstrel wanted was her close by his side. She was not able to choose or to decide. There was definitely a strong bond and a connection But neither was sure just how much affection To show to one another. Were they lovers or sister and brother? Should they take the obvious chance To merge their new friendship with romance? Their hearts soon to be exposed With this question now posed. Each knowing the answer of their own Now waited for the other's to be shown. "I wish not to scare you with this request, Knowing that my heart is being put to the test. I a lone minstrel and you a spirited dancer I hope that we can truly find the best answer. For us to be able to finally see What possibilities there could be. We need only to give it a try To see if our hearts together can fly. Such an attempt would only be fair As we continue on our way to Innisvaire." |

This is a touching story, minstrel, and it flowed like music. I especially like the description 'Jungle colored eyes' ! ...chanson~ Music, tonal clear & pure, Caresses the harshest of curves. -Song of Gesture |

A great poem... and a great story! So many of us stay silent... waiting to hear the words that would change our lives... never knowing that they are waiting, too. Well done! |

Ministrel, you play the poem very neatly sir, and tho your heart belonges to the dancer. Wilst thou sing for us again. Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Kethry, I infact have two more poems that follow up this one. They make a kind of trilogy. I'll add them soon. minstrel |
