Balladeer, Balladeer,
I lend you my ear,
(But please give it back,
Without it, can’t hear) what?

‘Tis a rhyme you have lost
I heard you did say
Why hold on this moment
It just went this way>

I’ll put on my sneakers
And give it a chase
But don’t write a thing
I’ll be back in haste.

But if I do catch it
What should I do
Keep it in a box, here?
Or mail it to you?

Oh well, forget it
That rhyme I can’t grab
I just saw it jump into
A big yellow cab.

Hey, Ron, my good buddy
Now don't clown around.
Just put on your sneakers
And run that cab down!

Then grab all my rhymes there,
Throw them in a box
And wrap it with chains and
At least twenty locks.

You have to be careful
My rhymes can be clever
If you let them cut you
You may bleed forever!

My thanks for your help, sir.
Your only reward
Will be thank you's forever
From this grateful bard.

Well I ran down the cab
(you should"ve heard me cuss)
But then your ryhme
Jumped onto a bus

I had it so close
It was right within range
but I got kicked of the bus
"cause I didn't have any change

So I hitched on the back
Went off for a ride
knowing the rhyme would get off
In a confident stride

But that rhyme is real clever
And there was just one hitch though
It ran on right passed me
After it jumped out a side window

A chase did follow
Through alley and park
I ran all the day
And way past the dark

Until I was so winded
I just couldn't go far
So I stopped for a drink
In a small corner bar

And 'lo and behold
who do I find
There on a stool
Why, your little lost rhyme

It would be easy to catch him
That's what I thunk
Because the rhyme was slurring
And overly drunk

So I packed him away
After his 36th toast
He's in a box on his way
Of course its collect post!
