Nocturnal Journey Dampness fills the air On Southern Autumn nights Dew so thick it coats Everything below. Suspended in the air Blankets of pillowy fog Hover overhead and Nudge tree limbs lower Creatures of the night Stir while day timers rest Seemingly inching Along as they go. As midnight approaches The pillowy fog descends Painting the world misty white As heat and cold collide Silence becomes deafening I feel a tap on the shoulder Turning to look but I see That no one is there. Slowly and deliberately I move through it all The air becomes thick With the sticky mist. As night becomes morn It’s heavier and thicker yet Now on the return trip Back to my home My arm pierces the veil Of the curtained world Over and again repeatedly Casting out cargo I've covered thirty miles And have fourteen left to go The journey makes me weary As dawn approaches Finally, at last I can Toss the last piece Casting it out and away The air tears as it goes Oh so tired as I turn To head back home The mist is heavier now Droplets form small puddles I edge into safe harbor The engine winds down I emerge into the fog bank Glad I made it back. Creatures of the day Stir while night timers rest They move like rockets Along as they go. As night fall begins its time Yet again for the nocturnal To load the cargo for Another forty-four mile run. We all reach for different ways of unloading [emotional] cargo...and I found this to be a very interesting approach... good job! Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?...KRJ |

The never ending journey. There doesn't seem to be any rest for the weary, does it? I love the descriptions of the fog. I could feel it moving in on me as I read. Take me as I am or watch me as I go |
