“NIGHT FRIGHTS”
by
Bill Charles

I knew it was Halloween, but figured what the heck,
just go through the park to get home,
            wasn’t such a long trek…
So I went right through, the creaky main gate,
and as soon as I did,
I had the impression it was too late…

Well I didn’t know it, that is, what I was getting into,
until scary things started to happen,
            holy phew!
I heard this noise, sounded like something very angry,
        what was it I wondered,
            I certainly wasn’t going to argue…

A bolt of lighting, and some scary cackling laughter,
        there was a ghoul person,
            looking just like an aggressor!
I didn’t want to agitate him, so backed away did I,
        didn’t do any good though,
as he caught me with his eye…

So I turned tail and ran, later they said I was pure white,
         I was really scared,
had a whole lot of trembling fright…
And as I was running, fast as I could down that curvy path,
         out jumped a skeleton,
            with all of its wrath…

A ghoul, a skeleton, wow I thought, what’s next,
         I shouldn’t have asked,
because here comes the very best…
Evil red eyes were looking, through the dark at me,
and it was coming from over there,
            behind another tree!

It gurgled and said “A’rrrrrgggg”, and other things,
I said, “Wow Bill, this is not good,
there are just to many beings”!
My teeth were chattering, like I was chewing on a steak,
        hoping that that gurgling thing,
            only had a bellyache…

Never found out what it might be, because I left in posthaste,
before that ‘whatever thing’ it was,
            wanted me to taste!
I took off out of that park, all I could say was, “Come on feet,
help me get out of here,
just once, make me an athlete”!

So I learned my lesson, if you must walk through   the park,
        don’t go there,
            when it’s Halloween and dark…
Because all of those creatures, they have pretty   big appetites,
and there is one thing for sure,
            you’re certainly going to have,
                “Night Frights”!

H'mmmm Nancy,

I forgot to mention that the one in the casket is no other than I, in disguise that is. My other being is well....um....yup that's what it is!

When young I use to be scared to  walk next to bushes and would sing to myself hoping that if I needed to scream I would already have my voice working...silly huh?  I enjoyed this very much, Bill.

Nancy - thanks for the Halloweeny, your graphics are great. But watch out, don't turn around, cause I is still there, behind that tree! No, that one! Not that one, this one!

nakdthoughts - No, I don't think it is silly to be ready for the bushes, that is, if anything was behind them! And thanks for the great compliment, I'm glad you enjoyed this one for Halloweeny.

Love it - I can picture myself walking through the park and this happening!  I would have feet on fire.  Happy Halloween.

I love ghost stories and "night frights" (hard to believe, but yes, I love to be scared) and this one was spooooky....
I don't want to find a park in this one-stoplight town anymore...

angelface - as before, I was scared out of my wits. True story this is, ya know. Many things happen in the park, at night, on Halloweeny. Thanks for the kind comments.
