It’s a Brewin’ (Response to A Taste of Passion….)
Come on people, lend me your ear,
I’m gonna tell a story ‘bout old Balladeer.
He had him a still for his private drinking,
Some stuff he called his good ole white lighting.

One day he took a sip and said, “I do declare.”
He took a great big gulp, then, just didn’t care.
His head started spinning, and after a while
he acted like an animal that came from the wild.

He went to the zoo and said he was mean.
He found a gorilla and said, “I am King.”
With his mouth going ninety and his spirits high,
Went to the gorilla and poked him in the eye.
The gorilla got mad and broke down his cage.
He came after ‘Deer in a wild, wild rage.

That’s when ‘Deer knew he had done the wrong thing.
He ran so fast that his feet began to sing.
He was chased down the street and into the hills,
Right to the very spot he had his still.
He thought he was safe when he got to his place.
But when he turned around, the ape was in his face.

He had fire in his eyes and was ready to kill.
He’d tear ‘Deer apart and break his still.
‘Deer eyed him too, and knew what he thought.
He had to think fast cause he’d been caught.
He gave the ape a jug of his best white lighting.
They both sat down and started to drinking.

Well, ‘Deer made a new friend and he’s glad that he did.
Cause he was looking at death and thought he was dead.
So, it just goes to prove what ever you do,
Friends can be made over a good ole brew.

Melton (what a poetic name you have) This tall tale is adorable. Reminds me of Buffett's "God's Own Drunk" (no offense to King Balladeer)  Thanks for this one!

maybe the ending could have been funny...

that old gorilla had him cornered for sure
no escape, no window or doors.
But that gorilla wasn't angry that's now plain to see,
Because that ape wasn't a he, it was a she.
And in gorilla talk, I love you, sigh,
Is said with a poke right in the eye.
