I went away on holiday
My husband stayed behind
We did not have enough to pay
Also three children we must mind

While away I thought of home
And all the things I'm missing
Everyday I'd telephone
And warn of hugging, kissing

Three weeks away is a long time
I could not wait to return
Although I needed my down time
To be back home I burned

At last, the day drew nearer
The train was travelling back
I could see much clearer
The hugs and kisses which I lacked

The family was all waiting
With hugs and tears all round,
husband anticipating
The joy when homeward bound

We waited past those nighttime elves
So we could show our love
We smiled gently between ourselves
And thanked the Lord above

Oh how I have missed you all
Must have swelled my husband's head
But I was not talking to him at all
I was talking, to pillows and bed.

Very funny! I'm like you I love my honey, but my own bed and pillow is what I really need.
