Dollop of Dolls You thought I was worth keeping Lined me up with the other Windup dolls, intertwined organza, Permanent pink elasticized grins. But I fell off your collector’s shelf With a thud, no longer my confidant Or mental stud, into southern mud Naked as the day I was assembled. This might be your view simplified Could it be, that in reality You never knew me, I wasn’t just a doll after all? © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

powerful words to set him straight. Good job. If he didn't take the time to see the real you, he is just a blind fool. |

Thanks, SEA, Ron and Victoria, This person no longer matters, but it is curious to me how they saw me, or how I must have presented myself at the time... Corinne |

Great poem, Corrinne. It's good to hear the person no longer matters. Gives me some hope. Sandra |

Oh, I loved this, I had a doll once, and I lost her.... "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey."" Laurie Lee Kathleen |

Corinne, whoever saw you in this light was indeed a fool and if they heard any of your poems they would realise the depth of their error. wondefully written from the heart of a true poet, no doll for sure. "an afixiation a fix on anything the line of life the limb of a tree the hands of he and the promise that s/he is blessed among women". Patti Smith |

Well, I seem to have missed this doll of a piece... your one of those rare dolls... the sassy type, a doll with an attitude. Irish Barbie.. lol. I gotta get me one of those. Parker |

Corinne, I agree with your poem conclusion he was too shallow to have ever known you 'Could it be, that in reality You never knew me,' Jon |

Corinne~ Well, I know a DOLL when I see one - and you're IT ! Oh, yeah .... and a doll that recites poetry ! Now THAT makes you a collector's item ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Catalina moon, in the long run, what is most important is how this person makes you feel, if they make you feel bad about yourself, even part of the time, then they don't deserve you. Thank you, Irish Rose, a doll is just a plaything, easily replaced... Brian, how sweet you are. Thank you. Park, Irish Barbie, aye, long red hair, green eyes and the ability to leap rings of fire, with a blink of the eye, she'll steal your heart then vanish back into the mist of the moors! Hmmm, maybe Mattel would be interested! Jon, thank you kindly. Marge, you got a chuckle out of me with your response! Thanks! A collector's item, now, does that also make me an antique? LOL Corinne |

You are definitely not one to be encased in porcelain or plastic. Think Mattel is ready for a living breathing doll yet? Wonderful write. |
