Somewhere... out there...

i wake in the morning
and begin a new day-
what costume to wear
for the role that i'll play

paint a smile on my face
be a humorous clown
make the people laugh
while inside i frown

or maybe a cape
and a hero i'll be
in case of a crisis
they'll have to call me

but playing dress-up
on inside or out
is not what i choose
to make my life about

i don't need a mask
no need to pretend
i'll just wear my heart
in the role of a friend

This is so true; the many roles we assume, yet what better face to show that the face of the soul that wrote this!!!

Vicky I think we all wear masks sometimes. Too bad we have to. I much prefer the true heart of a friend!

It can be fun to pretend sometimes, and sometimes we feel we have to, to protect others or ourselves, but you make a great choice here.  There's nothing more becoming than the heart of a true friend, and you wear it well.  hugs

Vicky~
The cape of friendship fits you well.
This is just so representative of what is inside your heart.

You know I'm loving it.

true friendship sounds through your words,
and lighten up your face, so don't use a mask.

The heart of a friend
Worn for all to see
Nothing ever to defend
Is the right place for me

Open
Honest
on my sleeve
torn
mended
happy
sad

My heart is there
My soul is as well
Everything to share
Together friends dwell
