In my sleep I dreamt last night,
it gave me such a horrid fright.
A place there was I needed to be,
beside it a place Daddy wanted to see.

I was only to be gone minutes, just a few,
Dad walked to a spot in the woods that he knew.
After a short while I had been gone,
but Dad had been gone way to long.

Walking into the woods, finding Dad under a tree,
Dear God he's been shot, not once, but three.
In this mans heart I saw no fear,
as I tenderly cradled his body near.

He gently smiled as he looked into my eyes,
"I love you dear" then Daddy said "goodbye."

The dream actually did happen about three months after my father passed away.  It was sortah scarey at the time, and I woke up and wrote it down.  In some ways it almost seemed like it was the goodbye I never had the chance to say.  I just wish he would have lived to see me finally be published.
Oh dear, I'm sorry I am rambling so.  Anyhow, thanks much for the kind words both of you!!

I agree with you D - It was your opportunity for goodbye - and a so much better way to look at it - (great writing too~S~)

Thanks so much Bill, it truly did almost seem like a way to say all that wasn't said.  It was a release of sorts.....
