How can you forget
The greenness of the valley
The lush grass we lay upon
The sunshine that warmed us so?
How can you forsake
The warmth of this love
Forget not yet, forget not this
The power of that fateful kiss!
If it must be, I'll let you go
If there's no choice, it must be so.
Though who or what has been my foe
I guess that I will never know.
I'll gather up my tattered pride
Hide my tears down deep inside
Stand up tall, let my arms fall
Pretend I haven't lost it all.
Though nothing's left alive inside
I'll lift my hand (I will not cry)
Godspeed, my love.
Goodbye, goodbye!!!

Thank you SEA; funny how we try to be brave at times like that...

It's good to try to put a period and move on...

Pepper, heartwrenching goodbye there but I loved the brave face.

This was truly exquisite work Peppermint,
the sincerity of your weave and the
excellent touch of emotion is what poetry is
all about...these moments show how much we
love them...to wave without tears and as the
move out of sight we let those tears fall
where only we can see...beautiful writing~

Thank you both for your comments....I've finally grown enough to know that sometimes you have to say goodbye...

I sometimes wish I could place that period...

To Be Free or Not to Be Free...
That Is The Question

I am free to move on
free to be me
only I don't even know
which me to be.

Am I the one
who is sweet to them all,
or the sensual me
who lets down my wall?

Am I the one
who is sad half the time,
and the other half loving
as I dream in my mind?

Or the one who is angry
and voicing my rant,
as frustration becomes me
and I write in rhyme chant?

I am free to go on,
don't know where that shall be.
I have never felt tied
yet I've never felt free.

Says I'm free to move on now,
forget what has been.
No choice left for me
don't know where to begin.

So I  wonder the meaning
of freedom for me,
as I write all my words
and express to feel free...

~Wynter

Yes, this is very sad, but yet I sense a peace about it, I hope so if needed.

Your poem rings true
It is sad
But to get on with one's life
goodbye is a must do
